The construction of the slag sediment tank located on the power plant premises was yet another undertaking co-financed with the EU resources.

The investment project is mainly connected with the plan of closing the temporary slag and ash storage yard located in Mysłowice-Dziećkowice. Modernization of the current deslagging system will enhance the slag recovery effectiveness and the clarified water is returned to the water circuit installation.
Recovered slag is forwarded to further commercial utilization and the only waste generated in this process is used gravel from the settlement tank chambers. It will be utilized for the production of construction elements and to revitalize brownfield sites.
It is an ecological technology which does not harm the natural environment. Shutting down the previous waste storage site will eliminate secondary dusting, infiltration of the oversedimentary water to the surface water and groundwater. Significant reduction of the electrical energy consumption for auxiliary needs of the installation, reduction of the deslagging installation operational costs and repair costs of slag pulp pipelines   are also of utmost importance.

The installation was officially commissioned on November 24, 2008.
